Join Captain Zach Steinhauser for a very special safari that not many people get to witness: the Synchronous Firefly display! Sychronous Fireflies occur across the southeast, but they put on a special courtship ritual where they all flash in unison like a strobe light in a Miami night club! After mating the females lay their eggs and the larvae hatch and live in the leaf litter for two whole years before emerging as adults and take part in the big dance. For one night only, Capt Zach has been granted access to a private property next door to Congaree National Park that has the fireflies. If you've been striking out on the lottery at Congaree, now is your chance!

Itinerary
We will be meeting at the Kirk Farm off of Bluff Road at 8:15pm where we will sit and wait for night to fall. As it gets darker the fireflies will begin to flash at their own rhythm until they eventually sync up. Our watch party will conclude at close to 10:30pm.

Guests who arrive late will be left behind and unable to receive a refund.

Please note: Guests must bring their own flashlights. Red Cellophane will be provided as its least detrimental to the fireflies as they're flashing. Bug Spray needs to be applied before arrival as it can adversely affect firefly behavior.
In the unlikely event of inclement weather, we may cancel or postpone the trip the day prior to departure and will call the number you provided on your reservation to let you know.
Cancellation Policy
We require 3 DAYS NOTICE to cancel your reservation and receive a full refund. If you cancel within the 3 day period, you will not be refunded.
