Have you ever heard of an “Endangered Plant”? The Rocky Shoals Spider Lily is one such species of plant that we nearly lost to extinction. The absolutely gorgeous flowers come into bloom in May & June and Landsford Canal State Park in Catawba SC has one of the largest populations of Spider Lilies in the world. While typically we go to view wildlife on safaris, this safari will be focused on the plants. We will be paddling on the Catawba River where will launch & exit the river from within the state park. This paddle can be somewhat difficult as this stretch of the Catawba River is very shallow, so it's very easy to get stuck on rocks. Our guide will be leading in front and we will do our best to follow his route, and Captain Zach will bring up the rear to aid you in case you get stuck. You must know how to swim in order to take part in this safari.
