The Safari
Are you a fan of the things that go bump in the night? Summer time is one of the best times of year to experience the diversity of night-flying insects like Moths & Beetles you can find in your backyard. Lucky for y'all we're teaming up with the folks over at Monarch Ranch Butterfly Conservatory to light trap insects which is essentially having us all gather around a bedsheet with a night light on and waiting for the insects to land on the sheet. Once the insects land, we'll move them to containers for photos. Prized insects we're hoping to see are the likes of giant moth species like the Luna Moth or South Carolina's largest beetle, the Hercules Beetle! After roughly 2 hours, we'll call it a night and let the bugs get back to their business.
Itinerary
We will meet at the Monarch Ranch Conservatory at 7:30pm and begin our workshop at 8pm. From there Capt Zach & Sean will brief you on what to expect and we'll walk down to the collection site. We will conclude our Moth trapping after roughly 2 hours.
Guests who arrive late will be left behind and unable to receive a refund.
Please note: There are restrooms available at Monarch Ranch. In the unlikely event of inclement weather, we may cancel or postpone the trip the day prior to departure and will call the number you provided on your reservation to let you know. If a trip is cancelled prior to embarking, we will try to reschedule your trip for a later date or offer you a full refund. We can't control the weather, but we can make sure you get the best experience possible.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations will only be refunded if the cancelling party’s spots are filled by new reservations. We do offer lifetime credits that can be applied to other Carolina Safaris until your balance is fulfilled. Lifetime credits apply only to customers who give 72-hour notice and don’t get their spots filled. It is up to the cancelling party to fulfill their credits. Should a safari be cancelled due to weather, hazardous conditions, or extenuating circumstances to the company all reservations will be refunded.
