Bird Walk - Saluda Shoals

Columbia, SC
The Safari
Have you ever wanted to get into birdwatching, but never knew where to start? Lucky for you, Captain Zach is one of the top birdwatchers in Lexington County and wants to help get you started on your journey! Saluda Shoals Park is one of the best birdwatching spots around town as it holds a diversity of habitats between wetlands, meadows, and hardwood forests. This is a great place if you're looking to get started and makes for an easy walk in the park.
Fall Migration will be going on as we meander the paved trails giving us great opportunities to encounter birds that we don't typically see year round. Being wild animals, there are no guarantees we will find these birds but we will do our very best to search the areas they typically hang around in the park.

We will meet in the parking lot of the Environmental Center at 8:30am. Once we're all together, we will set off to meander the trails in search of birds and other wildlife. Our walk around the boardwalk will last approximately 4 hours where we'll get to see plenty of birds, reptiles, plants, and hopefully some nesting Prothonotary Warblers!

We'll be walking around a Swamp, so bring bug spray. We reccommend you bring Water, but we will have it & snacks available before we embark.

Guests who arrive late will be left behind and unable to receive a refund.

Please note: Guests must be able to walk 1.75 miles in warm, humid temperatures as that is the length of the boardwalk.
