Beidler Forest
Harleyville, SC

The Safari
Captain Zach is partnering with Audubon South Carolina for a private guided Bird Walk of Beidler Forest. We will walk the boardwalk in search of nesting Prothonotary Warblers that make use of cavities within the Cypress Knees of the ancient Four Holes Swamp. Along the way we’ll look for other Swamp residents & learn more about this ecosystem. The park will be closed to the public this day, so we will have the boardwalk to ourselves. Less people around means more wildlife to see!

The boardwalk at Beidler Forest stretches 1.75 miles. Searching for the Prothonotary Warblers in this forest will be like searching for a needle in a haystack. Luckily it will be breeding season & we stand a good chance to encounter males singing for mates. Being wild animals, there are no guarantees we will find these birds but we will do our very best to search the areas they typically hang around in the park.

Dress for the weather and a walk through the woods. BYOB – Bring Your Own Binoculars.

Itinerary
We will meet in the parking lot to the Grassland Trails of Beidler Forest at 8:30am. Once we're all together we'll caravan the Center's parking lot. Our walk around the boardwalk will last approximately 4 hours where we'll get to see plenty of birds, reptiles, plants, and hopefully some nesting Prothonotary Warblers!

We'll be walking around a Swamp, so bring bug spray. We reccommend you bring Water, but we will have it & snacks available before we embark.

Guests who arrive late will be left behind and unable to receive a refund.

Please note: Guests must be able to walk 1.75 miles in warm, humid temperatures as that is the length of the boardwalk.
